Building on the success of HAMILTON, “The Wedding of the Waters” tells the story of the construction and completion of the Erie Canal in a totally contemporary vernacular. Performed by a cast of African-American, white, Native American and Hispanic actors, dancers and musicians, “Wedding” will excite audiences about the history of our city and stimulate them to learn more. Performed outside, overlooking the recently reconstructed canals at Canalside, “Wedding” tells the iconic Erie Canal story in ways that have never before been imagined or conceived in a performance consisting of dance, spoken word and a wide range of musical styles. “Wedding of the Waters” features a cast of local artists, including Chae Hawk, Edreys Wajed, the 12-8 Path Band, Aurora Borealis, Folk Song Trio, Stonehorse Lone Goeman and contemporary and hip-hop dance from Aerial Verde and Verve Dance Studio. Created and produced by Mark Goldman.
