synopsis
Relationships. Max and Charlotte. Charlotte and Henry. Henry and Annie. Annie and Billy. All of these pairs surface over the course of Tom Stoppard's The Real Thing. Some of them are staged. Some of them are real. But which is which? Can you prove it? Does it matter? This witty and brilliant play by one of the foremost playwrights of the last century examines the thin divide between reality and fiction. Stoppard's central questions about love, infidelity, and reality make us look closer at the purpose and power of art, ultimately forcing us to ask whether or not we can create "the real thing."
